The report on competitive industrial performance (CIP Report) is a biennial publication of UNIDO based on the analysis of statistical indicators of industrial performance. For this purpose, countries are ranked by Competitive Industrial Performance Index (CIP Index), which consolidates eight indicators related to production and trade of manufactured goods, technological intensity and impact of the country on the world market. The 2018 edition of the report has the coverage of 150 countries, the largest number so far.

The report on Statistical Indicators of Inclusive and Sustainable Industrialization (SDG Report) provides an analysis of global progress towards sustainable industrial development. The report is primarily based on the six SDG-9 indicators related to industrialization, for which UNIDO is designated as a custodian agency. While the first report of 2017 outlined the baseline scenario of industrial development in SDG context, the current report shows the patterns of the recent changes in different country groups.

Traditionally, in the CIS countries, the industry was and is a key driver of the social and economic development. This becomes especially obvious now, when these countries are getting deeper involved in the process of globalization of the world economics. The country borders become more and more transparent for the industrial activities and the labor resources become more and more mobile. Even the mainly agrarian countries in the region feel the influence of the powerful industrial economies.

This biennial publication provides a unique overview of the role of mining and utility activities in the world economy, presenting detailed time series data on the level, structure and growth of such activities by country and sector. World Statistics on Mining and Utilities offers country level data on the number of establishments, employment and output of activities such as coal, iron ore and crude petroleum mining as well as production and supply of electricity, natural gas and water.
