UNIDO’s contribution to the CCSA report “How COVID-19 is changing the world: a statistical perspective”

UNIDO contributed to the latest report “How COVID-19 is changing the world: a statistical perspective, volume 3.”, published by the Committee for the Coordination of Statistical Activities (CCSA), which can be found here: https://unstats.un.org/unsd/ccsa/. This report focuses on impacts on the global living conditions from different perspectives. UNIDO emphasized the developments of last year’s global manufacturing production (see p. 26f.).

Global manufacturing production has stabilized following the economic disruptions caused by COVID-19, reaching pre-crisis levels in September 2020. Recent data indicate that regional recovery has varied: while China’s manufacturing production has recorded year-over-year growth since June, many industrialized countries continued to report negative annual growth rates due to the extension of containment measures since autumn.
